The latest generation surgical tools allow surgeons to reduce the capacity of the stomach via the mouth, without making any incisions. The procedure is performed by endoscopy.

The stomach has a flexible pouch, called the fundus, which expands to accommodate large meals. A flexible tube is inserted through the mouth and positioned in the fundus. This tube contains the instruments that gather tissue into multiple folds and stitch them. These folds make the stomach smaller and reduce the amount of food it can hold so you feel full faster.

How long does POSE take?

POSE is performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes less than an hour. As it is a simple, low risk procedure most patients are discharged on the day of their operation.

What is the recovery process?

Most patients return to normal activity within a few days of their procedure. Your diet will be restricted at first but your ability to consume a normal diet will increase over the weeks. Members of the Support Team will guide you through this process and as you have unlimited support, they will always be on hand for any assistance you may need.
