Mr David Hewin BSc, MB, ChB, MD, FRCS (Gen Surg)

Mr David Hewin is a consultant general surgeon in Gloucestershire specializing in laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery including surgical procedures for obesity. Having qualified in medicine from Bristol University, he trained in surgery both in the UK and abroad and is now a fully qualified and accredited general surgeon with a special interest in upper gastrointestinal surgery and is developing NHS as well as private obesity surgery services in Gloucester. Mr Hewin’s major clinical interests include surgery for obesity, oesophageal cancer, reflux disease, gallstones and hernias.

Mr Hewin trained in obesity surgery with internationally renowned Vincent Frering in Lyon, France and has carried out further weight loss surgical training in Paris and Rome. He is a member of the British Obesity Surgery Society and has presented obesity surgery research at national and international meetings. He is an elected trustee of the British Obesity Surgery Patient Association where he is committed to working through them for greater accessibility to and affordability of weight loss surgery.
